Gail McManus

I founded PER, Private Equity Recruitment, to focus on the specialist recruitment needs of the private equity and venture capital community.

Gail McManus, PER Blog I've an MBA from London Business School and have been involved in private equity for more than twenty years.

I started my career with 3i in a regional office investing in some of the UK’s earliest management buy–outs, and then became 3i’s UK business development manager.

After 11 years, I moved into recruitment and started PER, Private Equity Recruitment, in 1998. PER is one of the leading international recruiters for private equity investment professionals.

Rupert Bell

Debbie Eidelman Rupert joined PER in the summer of 2010, having previously known the firm well during his earlier 13 year career as an investor with 3i, Sand Aire and Octopus. This first hand insight into the investing role is a key feature for PER in approaching new and current clients, allowing us to identify the best candidates for each client technically, as well as at an interpersonal personal level. PER is very much about being private equity people, for private equity people.

Rupert is based in Munich and focuses on the German-speaking market where he is developing PER’s offering with client firms of all sizes and strategies. He is also active in other international assignments.

Debbie Eidelman

Debbie Eidelman Since joining PER in March 2008, I’ve looked after UK and European clients, mainly buy-out investors and some fund of funds.

From my private banking background I also take particular interest in investor relations and fund raising roles.

I’ve a degree in International Business and speak Spanish, English and French fluently. I started my professional career at Citigroup where I spent six years working for the wealth management division looking after international clients.

Oliver Gilkes

Oliver Gilkes I joined PER in June 2008 and my main areas of focus are the UK mid-market, real estate, infrastructure and the Middle East and North Africa.

Previously I was with Deloitte in London, where my role was business development and research for M&A.

Before that I spent the best part of three years with CIL, which is a consultancy that specialises in commercial due diligence and strategy for private equity.

Charlie Hunt

Charlie Hunt I’ve been working with PER since the summer of 2006 having spent five and a half years in PE/VC with 3i and NESTA.

I was initially working on 3i’s technology group’s portfolio and then led investments in early stage opportunities for NESTA.  I’ve been using my knowledge of the industry in placing people for every type of PE fund.  I’ve a natural steer towards the mid-lower end of the market, but enjoy working with all funds and placement agents.  Having specialised in cleantech before joining PER, I also run most of our energy/cleantech searches.

Victoria Hyde

Victoria Hyde I focus on the European Private Equity Community, with some US and Asian mandates too. I've a special interest in secondaries and fund of funds.  I've been a consultant at PER since July 2006.

I previously managed property rights, negotiating contracts across Latin America. I've two university degrees; BA in Graphic Design and BSc in Business and Psychology where I graduated in Chicago with Honours and on the Dean's List.

Maria Nieto

I'm a consultant and part of the research and marketing team at PER

I’ve a BSc in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Strategic Marketing Management with commendation.

Welcome to PER's Blog

Gail McManus, PER Blog

The PER Blog contains my observations on the world of private equity and its people.  Every day I meet and speak with people from across private equity giving me a broad view of the challenges and issues that they face in managing their businesses and their careers.  And it allows me to understand and help resolve some of the human issues that affect the sector.

I hope you enjoy the PER Blog and that you’re able to take away one or two tips for getting the best out of yourself and the people around you. Let me know what you think, I look forward to your comments and feedback.
